 **The Spring Sports Banquet will be TONIGHT, Wednesday, May 22nd, at 6:00 p.m. at OHS. 

            Seniors bring beans with serving spoon.

            Juniors bring side dish, cole slaw or potato salad with a serving spoon.

            Sophomores bring chips.

            Freshmen bring cookies or brownies.

 **Attention all junior high kids: Please pick up your posters from Mrs. Woods room by Wednesday. All posters not picked up will be thrown away.

 **Attention next year Seniors:  Have you completed the assigned homework for Mr. Schubert?

 **All students--Tomorrow you will be taking your 2nd hour final starting at 8:20.  Report directly to your 2nd hour classroom for your final, final.

 **9-12th grade students--Tomorrow at 9:12 am you are to report to the tables in the commons to be divided into groups for kickball day, weather permitting.  It will be a little wet and a lot muddy if we go out.  It is a blast to play in the mud.  Dress accordingly.  You will not be allowed back in the building once you go out to play kickball.  Take all your stuff outside.  The doors will be locked.  We will not buzz you in.  Restrooms and water in the tech. building.  We will serve a hotdog lunch.  Your account will be charged.

 **Teachers- I will be practicing with the 8th grade students starting at about 9:00am tomorrow and not able to help organize kickball or if necessary organize other options.  Think about what you will do if we can't go outside for kickball.  Movies you could bring or games you could bring.  Please prepare something.  This morning there was about a 50% chance of rain/lightning during kickball time.  You will likely have between 6-15 students depending on how many show up.  Mr. Simpson will have Boy Scout bratwurst for the teachers.

**As a thank you for a great year, students may wear shorts that are longer than fingertip length for the remainder of the school year.  However, If a teacher tells you your shorts are too short(that is--not more than finger tip length) the teacher will put you  on a no shorts list and you can't wear shorts for the remainder of the school year.  Wearing shorts while on the no shorts list will result in 2 days ISS.  If you don't have shorts that meet the longer than fingertip length requirement--Don't wear shorts.

**There will be a meeting for all girls who will be playing High School Basketball next year.  It will be in the Library at 8:00 am on Tuesday.

**Teachers:  You are invited to wear jeans for the remainder of the year but you must wear a top that is nicer than a t-shirt.  If you wear a t-shirt with jeans you will be place on a no jeans list.  Just so you know.  Teachers can't get OSS, so don't ask.

In the event, more than one person submits their name as a candidate for a student council office, candidates will be required to give a speech to the student body on May 13. Offices available are president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and reporter. Class meetings will be held on May 13 to elect representatives for the high school student council. Each class will select two individuals to serve as class representatives on student council. Class officers will also be elected on May 13 during class meetings.

**High school students: There are two paid 12-week summer internships available at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. One is clerical and one is IT. If interested, see Ms. Hankins for more details.

**ACT workshop is coming up Wednesday, March 13 at OHS from 9 to 2:30. All juniors will be participating at no cost in preparation for the April 2 district ACT test administration. Any other high school students that wish to attend, please let Ms. Hankins know by Friday, March 8. There is a $20 registration fee which will cover the workshop, materials, and lunch.

**Prom sign-up forms are due as soon as possible, so we can plan on numbers for food, etc.  There are also extra sign-up sheets on Mrs. Winzer's desk as well.  Remember, the F rule applies for prom attendance.  If you received an F 3rd quarter you are ineligible to attend prom.

On December 14, third hour classes will build a wall of canned goods outside their third hour classroom door. Once the wall is built, class may resume. Student council members will tally the cans for each class and a winner will be announced at the end of the day on December 14. The class with the most cans will receive a pizza party during their third hour class. The pizza party will occur at a later date chosen by the third hour teacher.

**THE AMERICAN LEGION is once again sponsoring an Oratorical Contest for high school students in Missouri. The purpose of the contest is to develop knowledge and appreciation of the United States Constitution, the ability to think and speak clearly and critically, and the acceptance of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship. Winners at the state level have the chance to win $2,000 and at the national level can win up to $18,000. If interested please see Ms. Hankins for more information.

 **State Fair Community College’s Academic Success Center will offer a two-day ACT Prep Workshop from 9:30-11:30 a.m. July 12 and 13 for only $25. Students will receive an SFCC T-shirt, three-ring binder and handouts! The workshop will be in the Yeater Learning Center on the Sedalia campus. To register, students can go to https://www.sfccmo.edu/event/act-prep-workshop-2/ to complete the form and then make payment to the SFCC Business office by phone or in person. The workshop is limited to 40 participants, and registration deadline is June 26.

  •  Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare is interested in utilizing local area students for employment.  They are seeking students ages 16 and above to work in Environmental Services department.  It is requested that the student commit to working 20 hours per week Supervisor will be flexible with scheduling students due to other activities such as sports, practice, prom and so on.  The students will be working in the hospital performing housekeeping duties and will not be working past 8:00 p.m. during the school week/year.  During summer months the student has the ability if it is available to take more hours if their schedule can accommodate, however that is not a requirement.  The starting wage for this position is $9.23 per hour.
